How to paint walls

To make repair by own efforts – the economical decision. But in this case continually owners are expected not only problems of a choice of materials, but also some difficulties in performance of work. Today we will classify process of walls painting – from preparation to the finish.

Pluses and minuses of the painted walls

Walls painting today - one of fashionable decisions. It is almost only option of decoration of the walls at offices, but also in premises it is often used. On the one hand the painted walls is it is practical, with another – it is not absolutely eco-friendly. But about everything one after another.

Before to decide on walls painting, weigh everything pros and cons. If in your house rough walls, abundance of cracks, curve corners – painting not your option! It is possible to level, of course, walls, but many forces, time and money will go to it. Generally, to save will not leave. As a rule, in old buildings in connection with shrinkage, on walls there will be all the same cracks, it is necessary to direct periodically cosmetics, and it is troublesome.

Wall-paper not only at the price it is more favorable than painting, they create house comfort in the room, soften sounds, add a cosiness. But, so far as concerns a drawing room or the combined kitchen, it is possible to consider also option of painting. If you not simply do the next repair, and conceived to equip the room in a certain style, in certain cases wall-paper will be the only option (Baroque style, romantic, Japanese).

The yes, painted walls are more practical – they are not scratched, easily wash, and with use of any washing substances. If you have children or pets, choose paint. Paint – not the most eco-friendly material, it may contain toxic elements (cheap paints), does not allow a wall "to breathe", does not pass moisture. In respect of safety, with paper wall-paper paint is not comparable. And the last. In construction shops offer such smart choice of paints of various flowers (to you will pick up any shade), invoices and different degree of luster that you cannot realize the most courageous interior decision. On sale, of course, too there is a lot of wall-paper, but with shades it is more difficult here.

Preparation of a wall for painting

99% of success of process of painting depend on correctness of preparation of a wall. And to carry out all stages of preparation without special skills, oh as it is not simple. For a start, it is necessary to remove an old covering – to unhang wall-paper, to remove those slices of old plaster which badly keep, to remove a brush dust. If the wall was already previously painted (old Soviet style paint), she should be brought down.

Not many know, but there is a special primer for earlier painted walls, it can be put simply over a paint coat.

For a primer of the usual plastered surfaces it is better to use a concentrated primer. She gets divorced water in the ratio 1:4 and allows to save well. The primer from three to twelve hours dries. It is better to leave it for the night.

Further there is a stage of putting starting and finishing filling. Here at this stage it is better to invite experts. Not to achieve ideally equal surface without skills, cheaper in every sense, will involve professionals. Each layer of filling dries approximately days (depends on temperature and humidity indoors). After drying of a finishing layer, it needs to be jammed to clean roughnesses and small roughnesses. It becomes by means of a special grid and too demands certain skills. And only now you can put one more layer of a primer so that did not remain potek. When the primer dries, it is possible to start painting.

Process of walls painting

To paint a wall – business not cunning. Modern paints have such consistence which itself "will correctly lay down" on the prepared surface. In rooms it is better to use aqueous emulsion ink. She has no smell, quickly dries and exactly lays down. If paint too dense, it can be diluted to the necessary consistence with water.

For painting it is necessary to prepare: a brush (not wide, with densely clamped bristle), the roller (with velvet, short and soft pile) and a tray for painting by the roller. We need polyethylene to cover valuable subjects and a floor covering.

We remind that walls should be painted when it is painted and the ceiling dried.

As a rule, paint is applied in some layers. And the previous layer has to dry completely.

For a start pour a little paint in a tray, horoshenechko roll in it the roller so that pile completely got wet. It is a compulsory procedure. Every subsequent time, dipping the roller in paint, with effort roll it on a ridge surface of a tray to clean excess of paint. Now start coloring. The movements have to be with uniform pressing. Start painting from above and go walls down. So you will be able to remove begin to flow paints if such appear (and it means that you badly rolled the roller in a tray, and there was an excess paint). Each strip has to block previous at least on 4 centimeters. So you will not have unpainted zones. The brush is required to us for painting of corners and any hard-to-reach spots.

It is very important to make the correct movements by the roller. At first paint over a wall square horizontal "strokes", then at once walk down. Also remember that it is better to apply two paint coats (so the wall will seem more exactly), than one thick layer. Consider also the direction of light. At a daylight some flaws will be visible, and artificial light can make them even more considerably. It is necessary to be especially attentive in those rooms where dot lighting is established (on a ceiling or in niches).

Everything it is desirable fast repair!
