What to try in Hungary (Budapest)
The queen of Hungarian cuisine – a paprika: red, yellow, green, sharp and sweet, fresh and dried – it practically in all dishes. It gives a color and flavoring shade to all foods, except a dessert, of course, though, maybe, I do not know something, and it disappears even in desserts. The dishes representing synthesis of the first and second course is a classical example of Hungarian cuisine which bright representative is goulash. It goulash, not traditional for us, from meat, it is more similar to dense soup which is cooked from beef or mutton, potatoes, onions, small dumplings and, of course, a paprika.
Though I also knew that portions not small, but having ordered, and then and having eaten goulash, on bigger I could not be solved. By the way, the accent in the name of this Hungarian dish is put on the first syllable – goulash.
There is a strong wish to note the Hungarian wine, among a set of famous and unknown brands there is my favourite is Tokai. Taste unforgettable and, not for nothing great Goethe called him "the king of wines, wine of kings". Very much I recommend.
What to try in Austria (Vienna)
For certain everyone heard, or perhaps and tasted the Vienna coffee at any small restaurants. At last I managed to drink the real Vienna coffee in Vienna. There was coffee options in the menu a great variety, but traditional it is considered what "Melange" is called, however and it there are some versions. Coffee, honey, milk, sometimes an egg yolk, whipped cream is a part of the Melange coffee – is very tasty: unsurpassed taste and aroma. And here odes to the well-known Vienna strudel, in my opinion, are strongly exaggerated. Having rejected modesty, I will tell – we are able better, and to prepare, and a tax.
One more delicacy which should be tried in Austria, the candied petals of violets are – it is made by more than three hundred years. I too, frankly speaking, did not understand their taste, I think, this dish on the fan.
But one sweets will not be full, and I wanted to taste the Vienna schnitzel. Yes, companions, I will tell you, it something. The size of schnitzel exceeds the plate size, and it impresses, such schnitzel I had not to see earlier. Tasty and nourishingly. Schnitzels are cooked from different grades of meat and given usually together with a garnish from potatoes or vegetables. But Vienna has the right to be called only schnitzel from veal. Ate schnitzel, drank beer and you feel how life is adjusted.
What to try in the Czech Republic (Prague)
Here to me an udalost to spend two days therefore also dishes I tried much and different.
As I very much love cheeses, planning the trip, I read in advance that one of crown dishes of Czech cuisine is cheese Germelin – soft fat cheese with a white mold. And, it is given both fried, and marinated, and prepared on a grill. Of course, in the Czech national cuisine a huge choice of various meat that costs well-known veprevo a knee – a stewed with spices. But for myself I decided to taste cheeses at any opportunity. I was lucky, and I found cafe which is visited generally by locals, it is called "Misters". The fried cheese ordered there Germelin was served together with sauce, boiled potatoes and vegetables. To cheese I took the Czech dark beer. In the cozy atmosphere of Gospoda cafe my first acquaintance to ethnic Czech cuisine also took place.
The following time was necessary to taste cheese to me at restaurant in the center of Prague. There was no cozy house atmosphere of small cafe, but the ordered dishes were simply magnificent. And I this time ordered marinated cheese Germelin, gulyashovy soup in a pot from bread and, of course, beer.
Cheese was served with a garnish from marinated onions, cowberry jam and bitter pickled peppers. The combination of such different tastes was unusual and very much it was pleasant to me.
And then brought soup. The size of a pot struck me, it was huge as then it appeared, half of liter. Soup was dense, a little sharp with big pieces of meat. I ate and had a snack a pot – it from bread! I will confess, I did not master all pot about what still I am sorry.
The separate story is deserved by the Czech sweets. By the way, locals regale on sweets in special cafes which are called "цукарня". In them the choice of pies, cakes, pastries and desserts simply strikes. It is difficult to be defined at the order, all there is a wish at once. Beholding some time a show-window, I, at last, ordered strawberry the young lady to a cat and coffee in Turkish. For myself I drew a conclusion that ethnic Czech cuisine is a not only nourishing food and various grades of beer, it still stunning sweets and desserts for every taste.
